They can significantly reduce charging times, potentially adding hundreds of kilometers of range in just 15 minutes or less, but their installation requires more advanced infrastructure and higher power grid connections.

In terms of connector types, the CCS (Combined Charging System) connector is widely used in many regions for DC charging, supporting high-power transfer and compatibility with a growing number of EV models. Another type is the CHAdeMO connector, which is also prevalent, especially in some Asian markets, and offers reliable high-power charging options.

Moreover, DC chargers can be categorized by their application scenarios. There are public fast-charging stations designed for commercial use, providing charging services to multiple users. There are also semi-private or fleet chargers used by companies to charge their electric vehicle fleets efficiently.
